Maven Book Release Alpha 0.4: M2Eclipse, Assemblies
New M2Eclipse, Site, and Assemblies chapters
We've released a new version of the Maven Book - version 0.4. Highlights from this release include:
- General improvements to Part I (courtesy of Brian Fox)
- A new chapter covering M2Eclipse (courtesy of Bruce Snyder)
- A new chapter on Maven Assemblies (courtesy of John Casey)
- A Revised Version of John's Site Generation Chapter.
On Deck: A chapter on POM optimization by Brian Fox. Brian wrote some initial content for a chapter covering POM optimizations, I'm going to revise and extend that content to fit an entire chapter. Expect a Alpha 0.5 release some time this week.
Re: Maven Book Release Alpha 0.4: M2Eclipse, Assemblies
Fun. Rick, I didn't get an email about this comment (our blogging software is cantankerous). These are the emails we live for. Anyway, to respond specifically. I'm personally convinced that Maven is great but that it has been held back by terrible documentation for year. I think this book is an attempt to create a very clear reference, and I've specifically tried to steer us away from injected too much personality into the book. Maven needs clarity, and this book is an attempt to provide just that.
Please let us know if you have any questions or issues with either the content or Maven itself. We're really interested in getting continuous feedback and feeding it back into the writing process.
